Day Case Operations - recommended for CMTers?

Asked by CMTerSam  Volunteer

I hear conflicting opinions on this matter but for me personally, even where the hospital has tried to operate on me as a day case, I've always been kept in overnight, simply to keep an eye on me as my legs simply don't work well enough on the same day.

We were advised many years ago that it was never a good idea for CMTers to have any day surgery - so its probably the right thing to do, to stay in overnight. Best be safe than sorry!

Ooooh GOOD LUCK for tomorrow!

I've have one CMT related surgery... this was on my left foot in 2006 when I have metatarsal and calcaneal osteotomies (cutting wedges out of the top of my foot and my heel!) and also had tendon lengthening on my achiles and arch tendons.

Waiting for surgery any day now.... this time and exploratory procedure on my right ankle and they are also fusing all of my toes on both feet at the same time x
